The state transport department has initiated a joint enforcement drive with the police targeting illegally modified vehicles and other violations of the Motor Vehicles Act in Jaipur. Officials have announced that special inspections will be conducted across the city and at toll plazas to identify offending vehicles entering the city.
Deployment of Joint Teams
Joint teams from the transport department and the traffic police have been stationed at the Rajadhok, Bagru, Shivdaspura, and Hingonia toll plazas in Jaipur. On Wednesday, more than 1,000 vehicles were inspected, resulting in over 200 challans being issued.
Targeted Violations
The campaign specifically targets vehicles without number plates, those with unauthorized modifications, and vehicles misusing red and blue beacons or stripes. Officials have stated that strict action will be taken against violators to improve road safety and ensure compliance with traffic regulations.
“We appeal to vehicle owners to ensure their vehicles adhere to prescribed standards and to refrain from violating any regulations. Failure to do so will result in punitive action in accordance with the law. Under this campaign, vehicles will be inspected at all major toll plazas around Jaipur, along national highways, and at various entry points into the city,” a senior official said.
“Many drivers violate regulations by removing number plates, installing fancy number plates, altering silencers, fitting additional lights, or modifying the vehicle’s original structural integrity. In all such instances, punitive action will be initiated under the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act,” the official added.
Focus on Misuse of VIP Identification
Inspections will also focus on the misuse of red and blue stripes affixed to vehicles, fraudulent designations, unauthorized hooters, flashing lights, and other forms of misused VIP identification. Drivers found using such markings or symbols without proper authorization may face penalties, including the issuance of challans and the impounding of their vehicles.
