Jaipur's 2055 Mobility Plan Unveils Major Road Upgrades and Flyovers
Jaipur's 2055 Mobility Plan: Major Road Upgrades Revealed

Jaipur's Comprehensive Mobility Plan Sets Vision for 2055 Infrastructure

The Urban Development and Housing Department (UDH) in collaboration with RITES has finalized the Comprehensive Mobility Plan (CMP) for Jaipur, outlining a strategic roadmap to accommodate a projected population exceeding 1 crore by the year 2055. This ambitious plan focuses on extensive road network enhancements to alleviate traffic congestion and improve connectivity across the city.

Key Infrastructure Proposals and Upgrades

The plan includes significant infrastructure developments, such as the construction of flyovers and elevated roads at 14 critical locations, along with railway overbridges or underpasses at nine strategic points. Additionally, it proposes widening approximately 86 kilometers of roads across 25 major thoroughfares to enhance traffic flow and safety.

Major recommendations feature:

  • An elevated road on JLN Marg stretching from JDA Circle to Moti Doongri Circle.
  • An underpass below Gopalpura Puliya with a width of 700 metres.
  • An elevated road on Jhalana Bypass, extending 4.4 km from Jhalana Doongri to Jagatpura RoB.

The Jaipur Development Authority is set to commence construction on one of the pivotal projects: a 1.2-kilometer-long elevated road from Chauradiya Petrol Pump to Sanaganer Circle, marking an early implementation phase of the plan.

Collaborative Efforts and Additional Road Widening

Officials have highlighted the involvement of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), which will construct a Delhi-bound flyover on the Ajmer Expressway at the 200-Feet Bypass crossing, as per the plan's recommendations. This collaboration underscores a coordinated approach to urban mobility.

Further proposals aim to widen key roads, including:

  1. The road connecting Jaipur Junction and the Collectorate.
  2. Interior roads near the Heerapura bus terminal, airport terminal one, the proposed Pinjrapole Metro Station, and Gandhi Nagar railway station.

Additionally, there is a plan to transform Govind Marg, linking Trimurti Circle and Gurudwara Junction at Transport Nagar, into a four-lane corridor to boost capacity and efficiency.

Focus on Railway Overbridges and Underpasses

Among the nine proposed railway overbridges (RoBs) and underpasses (RuBs), major constructions are slated for locations such as Kartarpura, Mahesh Nagar, Jagatpura, Hathoj, and Gokulpura. These structures are designed to facilitate smoother traffic movement and reduce delays at railway crossings, contributing to overall urban mobility improvements.

The Comprehensive Mobility Plan represents a forward-looking initiative to prepare Jaipur for future growth, ensuring sustainable and efficient transportation infrastructure as the city expands towards its 2055 population targets.
