Jalandhar Municipal Corporation Intensifies Water and Sewer Bill Recovery Efforts
The Municipal Corporation (MC) of Jalandhar has taken decisive action to address outstanding utility payments by launching a targeted recovery drive in the Model Town area, falling under Zone No. 6. This initiative resulted in the successful collection of Rs 1.40 lakh from consumers who had defaulted on their water and sewerage bills.
Strict Enforcement Measures Implemented
During the drive, authorities adopted a firm stance against persistent defaulters who had ignored multiple payment notices. As part of the enforcement strategy, water and sewerage connections were disconnected for three such consumers, underscoring the MC's commitment to ensuring compliance with payment obligations.
The recovery operation was conducted under the direct supervision of senior officials, including Mayor Vineet Dhir and Commissioner Sandeep Rishi. They were supported by a team comprising Dr. Sumandeep Kaur, Estate Officer-cum-Chief Tax Collector Ashwani Gill, Superintendent Harpreet Walia, and Inspectors Avneet and Sunil, who coordinated efforts on the ground.
Urgent Call for Timely Bill Payments
In light of this drive, the Jalandhar Municipal Corporation has issued a strong appeal to all residents, urging them to settle any pending bills promptly to avoid similar punitive actions in the future. The move highlights the administration's focus on improving revenue collection and maintaining essential public services.
This recovery drive reflects a broader effort by municipal authorities across regions to enhance financial discipline and ensure the sustainability of urban infrastructure. By targeting specific zones and defaulters, the MC aims to set a precedent for timely payments and reduce the backlog of unpaid utility charges.
