Jamshedpur DC Orders Water Pots, ATMs, Night Cleaning

Jamshedpur: East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner Rajiv Ranjan has directed municipal officials to place earthenware pots containing clean water at public places within two days. Additionally, instructions have been issued to identify public spots, install water ATMs, and make them functional within a week.

Meeting Highlights

During a meeting on Wednesday, the DC instructed civic officials to review amenities in Jamshedpur, Mango, Jugsalai, and Chakulia municipalities to ensure people on the streets stay hydrated during the summer season. The DC specifically directed officials to identify dry zones, defined as residential areas facing water supply issues, and implement alternative measures for water distribution. “Supply water via tankers in the dry zone areas,” the DC directed.

Night Cleaning Initiative

Further, the DC asked municipal officials to conduct street cleaning during night hours to minimize traffic disruption on busy arterial roads and protect workers from the scorching sun and heatwave. As a pilot project, the DC stated that markets and crowded streets in the urban circle will be cleaned before 5 am. Noting that special initiatives are required for an effective cleanliness drive, the DC urged municipal officials to involve local residents in conducting the cleaning drive successfully.

Penalties for Littering

The DC instructed officials to be strict with people dirtying public areas and to penalize anyone discarding waste in public places. He also asked officials to carry out a drive to clean clogged drains and repair dilapidated ones ahead of the monsoon season.

These measures aim to mitigate the impact of the summer heat and improve civic amenities in the region.
