The Jaipur Development Authority (JDA), in coordination with the traffic police and Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC), executed a comprehensive anti-encroachment drive on Friday across multiple areas of the city. The most extensive operation targeted a 3-kilometer stretch from Gopalpura Bypass to Gurjar Ki Thadi and Triveni Circle, where more than 80 encroachments along the road boundary were dismantled. Temporary structures including platforms, staircases, railings, tin sheds, signboards, hoardings, tables, and other obstructions were cleared to restore the road margins. JMC also seized materials found at the sites.
Joint Operation to Improve Traffic Flow
According to DIG Police Anand Sharma, the joint drive aimed to enhance traffic movement and reclaim public land occupied by unauthorized structures. The operation was a collaborative effort to address persistent encroachments that hindered vehicular flow and pedestrian safety.
Additional Actions in Other Localities
In a separate action, JDA demolished an illegally constructed tin-shed room in the unauthorized Gangaram Nagar colony near Gurjar Ki Thadi. Officials stated that the structure was built without approval from the authority. The drive also covered Chitrakoot Colony in Sanganer, where encroachments along road boundaries were removed. In Ramchandrapura village, officials cleared a nearly 300-metre stretch of government land designated as a public access road. Boundary walls, fencing, thorn barriers, and other obstructions that blocked the route were cleared, alleviating inconvenience for local residents.
Action was also taken in Jaysinghpura, where encroachments between Shiv Nikunj Colony and Ram Laxman Vatika Colony were removed. Platforms, boundary walls, and iron gates constructed within the road boundary were dismantled.
Ongoing Campaign
JDA officials confirmed that the campaign against encroachments on public land and road margins will continue in the coming days, emphasizing the commitment to reclaiming public spaces and ensuring smooth traffic flow.
