Jharkhand Cabinet Approves Rs 820 Crore for Two Flyovers in Ranchi

The Jharkhand cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Tuesday, approved approximately Rs 820 crore for the construction of two new flyovers in Ranchi to ease traffic congestion and improve mobility in the state capital.

Flyover Projects Approved

According to officials, the proposed flyovers in the Argora and Chiroundi areas are expected to alleviate perennial traffic congestion. A 3.8-kilometer elevated road is planned from Argora Chowk in Harmu to Dibdih bridge. Cabinet Coordination Department Secretary Vandana Dadel stated that the cabinet approved Rs 469.62 crore for this project.

Another flyover, measuring 3.2 kilometers, will be constructed on the stretch from Karamtoli to Science City. For this, approximately Rs 351.14 crore has been approved for construction, land acquisition, utility shifting, and other related expenses.

State School Standards Authority Established

In a significant step, the cabinet gave its nod for the formation of the State School Standards Authority (SSSA), mandated under the National Education Policy (NEP). The Jharkhand State Education Research and Training (JSCRT) will be rechristened as SSSA, and all government schools affiliated with the Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) will come under the new authority. Dadel explained that SSSA will decide benchmarks and policies related to the functioning, safety mechanisms, and operations of these schools.

Innovation and Incubation Centre Foundation

Approval was also granted to establish the Innovation and Incubation Centre Foundation at the Government Engineering College in Palamu district. This foundation will operate four Centres of Excellence (CoEs). An estimated expenditure of Rs 22.97 crore has been sanctioned for a period of five years. The CoEs will focus on civil construction and town planning, sustainable and renewable energy technology, data analytics including AI and machine learning, and robotics and automation.

Other Approvals

Post-facto approval was granted for the Jharkhand Teacher Eligibility Test Rules, 2026. The cabinet also approved a proposal to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Google to accelerate AI innovation and adoption in the state.
