Jaipur: The Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC) launched its Shahari Seva Shivir 2026 on Monday at Ambedkar Bhawan in Sanganer, drawing a large number of residents on the first day. While many visitors completed their tasks quickly, others left with unresolved issues, particularly concerning lease deed applications.
Certificate Services and Civic Complaints
Most attendees visited the camp to obtain birth, death, and marriage certificates, while others raised complaints about sewerage, damaged roads, and other civic problems. Lokesh Choudhary, who came to apply for a marriage certificate, said the process was much smoother than expected. “A task that would normally require multiple visits to the zonal office and a week-long wait was completed in about 30 minutes,” he noted.
Lata Devi, applying for her husband's death certificate, could not finish due to missing documents but appreciated the officials' assistance. “They explained everything clearly and gave me a list of required documents. I am confident my work will be completed at the next camp,” she said.
Awareness Counters and Welfare Schemes
Separate counters were set up to spread awareness about Anganwadi services and various welfare schemes. Anganwadi worker Asha said many residents sought information about government programs and benefits available to them.
Challenges with Lease Deeds and Online Applications
Confusion persisted among applicants seeking lease deeds. Ram Jalal, a resident of Mandrapura Kacchi Basti, said he had hoped to start the lease deed process at the camp. “We were told that additional documents are required. Without a lease deed, obtaining water and electricity connections becomes difficult,” he explained.
Chauthi Devi said she was asked to apply online despite being unfamiliar with digital procedures. “I have all my documents, but I do not know how to use a smartphone properly. Being told to apply online has made the process difficult,” she said.
Officials Visit and Distribution
Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, Chief Secretary V. Srinivas, Local Self-Government Secretary Ravi Jain, and JMC Commissioner Om Kasera visited the camp and distributed certificates to beneficiaries.
The opening day highlighted both the strengths and limitations of the initiative: faster delivery of basic civic services for many residents, but continued challenges for those seeking resolution of more complex lease deed matters.
