Kanpur DM Inspects Polyhouse Farm, Urges More Models

Kanpur: District magistrate of Kanpur Nagar, Jitendra Pratap Singh, on Wednesday visited a polyhouse agriculture farm and emphasized the need to develop more successful agricultural models to promote modern farming practices among cultivators.

Inspection of Polyhouse Project

During the visit, the District Magistrate inspected a polyhouse established by farmer-entrepreneur Viraj Bhatia in the Kalyanpur region. Spread across nearly 10,000 square meters, the project has emerged as a notable example of modern protected cultivation techniques in the district.

Financial Assistance and Cost

Officials informed that the polyhouse project was set up at an estimated cost of around Rs 1.12 crore. Financial assistance of approximately Rs 55.95 lakh was provided under the scheme of the National Horticulture Board.

Directions to Departments

The District Magistrate directed the Agriculture and Horticulture Departments to share the experiences of such innovative farmers with other growers. This would enable a greater number of farmers to avail themselves of the schemes and increase their income.

Existing Polyhouses in District

Deputy Director of Agriculture RS Verma stated that six polyhouses were currently operational in the district under the Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture. The visit underscores the administration's commitment to encouraging modern farming techniques to boost agricultural productivity and farmer welfare.
