Kanpur: The district administration conducted a special night drive against traffic violations on the intervening night of May 28 and May 29, issuing challans to 151 vehicles for overloading and other offences. A total fine and compounding fee of Rs 11.25 lakh was collected.
Joint Operation by Multiple Departments
Acting on the directives of District Magistrate Jitendra Pratap Singh, a joint team comprising officials from the revenue, police, transport, and mining departments carried out an intensive checking drive in the Narwal area late Thursday night. The team inspected vehicles traveling along the highway thoroughly.
Vehicles without Number Plates and Overloaded Vehicles Targeted
During the operation, vehicles operating without number plates, unauthorized and overloaded vehicles, and drivers violating traffic rules were identified and penalized. The transport department issued challans to 95 vehicles, collecting Rs 8,47,000 as fine. The police department challaned 52 vehicles, collecting Rs 78,500. The mining department took action against four vehicles, collecting a compounding fee of Rs 2,00,000.

The team was led by SDM Narwal Vivek Kumar Mishra, assisted by ACP Chakeri Abhishek Pandey, RTO official Manvendra Pratap Singh, District Mining Officer Parasnath, and Nayab Tehsildar Ashish Patel.
Similar Drive in Ghatampur
A similar joint operation was conducted in Ghatampur on Wednesday, where 106 vehicles were challaned and Rs 6.47 lakh was collected as fine. The operation was led by SDM Avichal Pratap Singh.
