The Karnataka government has introduced a 50% discount on pending traffic fines to encourage settlement. The concession period runs from June 21 to July 10, 2025.
Eligible Fines
The discount applies to traffic e-challans registered before May 2026 and Transport Department cases from 1991 to 2022. This covers a wide range of pending fines, with total pending fines eligible for discount amounting to Rs 2,827 crore.
Payment Methods
Vehicle owners can pay the discounted fines through the KSPS app, KarnatakaOne centres, and other designated platforms. The process is designed to be convenient and accessible.
Previous Scheme Success
A similar scheme in November 2023 successfully disposed of 77,41,050 cases, collecting Rs 201 crore in fines. Additionally, 902 Transport Department cases were resolved, generating Rs 29.66 lakh in revenue.
Government Initiative
The decision follows a proposal by the Karnataka State Legal Services Authority to clear pending cases. The government aims to reduce the burden on the judicial system and encourage voluntary compliance.
Vehicle owners are urged to take advantage of this limited-time offer to settle their pending fines at a reduced rate. The scheme is expected to help clear a significant number of pending cases and improve road safety compliance.
