Karnataka Metro Early for UPSC Prelims

In a move to facilitate candidates appearing for the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Preliminary Examination, the Karnataka government has announced early commencement of metro services in Bengaluru on June 16. The decision aims to ensure that aspirants reach their examination centres without any hassle.

Early Metro Timings

The Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) will start its services from 5:30 AM instead of the usual 7 AM on the day of the exam. This early start will cover all operational lines, including the Purple Line (Kengeri to Whitefield) and the Green Line (Nagasandra to Yelachenahalli). The move is expected to benefit thousands of candidates who rely on public transport.

Additional Arrangements

Apart from early metro services, the government has also directed the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) to operate additional buses on key routes leading to exam centres. Traffic police will be deployed to manage congestion near major exam venues. Candidates are advised to plan their journey in advance and keep a buffer time for any unforeseen delays.

The UPSC Preliminary Examination is scheduled to be held across multiple centres in Bengaluru. Over 50,000 candidates are expected to appear for the exam in the city. The early metro service is a welcome step for many who have to travel long distances.

This initiative reflects the government's commitment to supporting students in their academic pursuits. Similar arrangements have been made in the past for other competitive exams, ensuring smooth commuting for aspirants.
