Bhopal: An 18-year-old boy died allegedly by suicide at a de-addiction centre in the Awadhpuri area after hanging himself inside the bathroom. An employee of the centre spotted him hanging from the noose on Wednesday evening and rushed him to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead after examination. Awadhpuri police registered a case and handed over the body to the family after a post-mortem examination.
Victim's Background
According to police, the deceased, identified as S Chandu, 18, son of Shankar, was a resident of Anna Nagar. He was addicted to intoxicants, following which his family admitted him to a de-addiction centre located near the Awadhpuri police station for treatment. He had been staying at the centre for nearly a month.
Incident Details
Police said that on Wednesday evening, Chandu allegedly hanged himself inside the bathroom of the centre. As soon as an employee noticed him hanging, he brought him down and immediately took him to the hospital. However, doctors declared that he had already died upon arrival.
Police Action
The Awadhpuri police have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the incident. The body was handed over to the family after the post-mortem examination was completed.
