Kolkata: The Kolkata Municipal Corporation is preparing to receive Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, who is scheduled to visit the KMC headquarters on Monday. The civic body will commence a five-day cleanliness drive starting Monday, as it readies to welcome Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 20, a day before World Yoga Day is observed in the city.

According to a KMC source, senior officials from various civic departments have been instructed to participate in the special drive, which includes the KMC headquarters. “We have been asked to take adequate steps to ensure cleanliness begins from the ward level up to the KMC headquarters. We have started our work, which will continue until next weekend,” a KMC official said.

Details of the Cleanliness Drive

The drive aims to enhance sanitation across the city, focusing on areas that will be visited by the dignitaries. The KMC is coordinating with local ward committees to ensure thorough cleaning. The initiative also includes beautification of public spaces and removal of debris.
