Compensation for Kodinada-Vazhimukku Road Landowners Resumes in T'puram
Kodinada-Vazhimukku Road Compensation Resumes

The revenue wing of the district administration has restarted the compensation disbursal process for the remaining landowners affected by the widening of the Kodinada-Vazhimukku road stretch at Balaramapuram, bringing relief to around 100 beneficiaries.

District Collector Clarifies No Intentional Delay

District Collector Anu Kumari stated that the process, which temporarily slowed down due to election-related duties, has now resumed at full speed. She emphasized that there was no intentional delay, as compensation was processed quickly until election work interrupted the procedures. The collector expressed hope that the process would be completed by the end of the month.

Project Details and Impact

The 1.5-kilometer Kodinada-Vazhimukku stretch is part of the larger Karamana-Kaliyikkavila highway development project. This project aims to ease congestion on the busy NH-66 corridor and improve connectivity towards the Kerala-Tamil Nadu border. The proposed road will be a 30-meter-wide four-lane highway with modern safety features.

Officials reported that nearly 150 beneficiaries had already received compensation in earlier phases. The remaining landowners and shop owners are awaiting document verification and final administrative clearances. The overall compensation package sanctioned for the project is estimated at more than Rs 100 crore.

Delay Affected Tendering Process

The delay in compensation disbursal affected the tendering process for the road work. The Kerala Road Fund Board can proceed with construction only after land acquisition formalities are completed. Residents and traders in the area had repeatedly raised concerns over the prolonged uncertainty and financial strain caused by the delay.

With the resumption of the compensation process, affected parties are hopeful for a swift resolution. The district administration remains committed to ensuring that all eligible beneficiaries receive their due compensation without further delays.
