Mangaluru: Konkan Railway Corporation Limited (KRCL) has commenced pre-monsoon track inspections and preventive maintenance works to ensure passenger safety and reliable operations. The route operates on a single-line system with high capacity utilisation, necessitating tight operational management.
Infrastructure Upgrades Underway
Passing through complex terrain and heavy rainfall zones, the Konkan Railway is undergoing essential engineering works as part of infrastructure upgrades. These include cutting lowering, BLT repairs, track lifting, deep screening, through-track renewal, and PQRS maintenance, all aimed at maintaining track integrity and passenger comfort.
Impact on Train Operations
Temporary speed restrictions and blocks may cause minor delays and detentions. KRCL stated that most pre-monsoon works will be completed by the end of May, after which punctuality is expected to improve. Passengers are being informed of schedule changes through station announcements, electronic displays, official websites, and authorised mobile applications.
