Krishna District Launches 179 E-Autos & Pushcarts for Waste Segregation Drive
Krishna District Rolls Out 179 Vehicles for Waste Management

In a significant push towards scientific waste management, Krishna district authorities have launched a fleet of new vehicles to bolster door-to-door garbage collection across its villages. District Collector D K Balaji personally flagged off the initiative, appealing for strong public cooperation in segregating waste at source.

New Fleet for Systematic Collection

The launch ceremony took place at the district collectorate premises in Machilipatnam on Monday. A total of 8 electric autos (e-autos) and 171 pushcarts were officially flagged off for distribution to villages throughout Krishna district. This deployment is aimed at strengthening the infrastructure for systematic door-to-door waste collection.

Collector D K Balaji emphasized that each vehicle is equipped with a clear, colour-coded bin system to facilitate easy and correct waste disposal by residents. Green bins are designated for wet waste, blue bins for dry waste, and red bins are meant for hazardous waste. This system is designed to ensure segregation right from the point of collection.

Public Appeal for Source Segregation

Speaking at the event, the district collector made a fervent appeal to all citizens. He urged them to develop greater awareness about the importance of waste segregation and to actively cooperate with sanitation workers. The key request was for households to segregate their waste at home itself—the source point—before handing it over to the sanitation staff using the newly provided vehicles.

Balaji stated that this citizen participation is crucial for the success of the entire waste management chain. Proper segregation at source leads to more efficient processing, recycling, and disposal, reducing the overall environmental burden.

Linking to Swarna Andhra Pradesh 2047

The collector placed this drive within the broader vision of the state government. He noted that the administration is working on ten guiding principles to transform Andhra Pradesh into 'Swarna Andhra Pradesh' by the year 2047. Among these core principles, 'Swachha Andhra' (Clean Andhra) holds a pivotal position.

Under the Swachha Andhra principle, the government is advancing in a planned and scientific manner to ensure effective waste management in every village and town. The rollout of the specially equipped e-autos and pushcarts in Krishna district is a concrete step in this statewide, systematic approach towards cleanliness and sustainable waste handling.
