Vijayawada: Krishna district and Kakinada district have been selected as pilot districts for implementing a national-level app designed for the sale and distribution of subsidised fertilisers. The app, developed by the Central Government, aims to streamline fertiliser distribution and enhance monitoring capabilities. States have been granted flexibility to make adjustments based on local requirements to ensure farmers do not face any difficulties.
Review Meeting Held
A review meeting on the pilot project was conducted at the agriculture director's office in Mangalagiri on Thursday. During the meeting, officials discussed various aspects of the project, including supplying fertilisers in phases according to crop stages, assigning village agricultural assistants to identify eligible farmers, and creating special procedures for border villages.
Use of Artificial Intelligence
The potential use of artificial intelligence for monitoring and verification was also deliberated during the meeting. Officials stated that the suggestions and recommendations made during the review would be forwarded to the Central Government for consideration.
State-Level Modifications
Special chief secretary for agriculture Budithi Rajshekar has invited suggestions for state-level modifications to make the app more farmer-friendly. This initiative is expected to improve the efficiency and transparency of fertiliser distribution, ultimately benefiting farmers in the region.
