Land Acquisition Training Program for Officials Begins in Gandhinagar
A five-day training programme for personnel from the revenue department and the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is being conducted in Gandhinagar on the theme 'Avoiding Costly Mistakes in Land Acquisition,' the government stated on Thursday. A total of 34 officials from the state revenue department and NHAI are participating in the workshop, which is scheduled from May 18 to May 22.
According to an official statement, the programme covers a wide range of topics aimed at improving the land acquisition process. These include procedural compliance under the RFCTLARR Act, 2013, strategic planning of detailed project reports (DPRs), the use of satellite-based geospatial technology in planning the land acquisition process, and training on determining market value and avoiding errors while preparing compensation awards.
Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) of Revenue, Jayanti Ravi, emphasized the need for accuracy and strict adherence to legal provisions in land acquisition. She highlighted that such measures are crucial to minimize administrative delays, avoid expensive legal disputes, and ensure fair rehabilitation for affected citizens. The training programme is designed to equip officials with the necessary skills and knowledge to handle land acquisition efficiently and effectively.
