In response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's appeal to conserve fuel amidst global energy tensions, key officials in Lucknow have set an example by switching from four-wheelers to eco-friendly modes of transport.
Officials Lead by Example
Prof. Sanjay Singh, Vice-Chancellor of Dr. Shakuntala Misra National Rehabilitation University (DSMNRU), cycled from his residence to the campus. Meanwhile, Prof. J.P. Pandey, Vice-Chancellor of APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU), walked to his office instead of using his official car. Dr. Praveen Srivastava, Medical Superintendent of Balrampur Hospital, took the Lucknow Metro to KD Singh Stadium and then used public transport for the remaining commute.
AKTU's New Energy-Saving Measures
AKTU announced that its offices and classes will now function five days a week from 9 am to 6 pm. Additionally, Friday will be observed as a no-vehicle day on campus to further save energy.
Extension for AKTU V-C
In a separate development, AKTU Vice-Chancellor Prof. J.P. Pandey has been granted a six-month extension by Chancellor and Governor Anandiben Patel. The governor's office confirmed that the extension will remain in effect until a new vice-chancellor is appointed.
