Ludhiana Municipal Corporation Commences Intensive Census Training Program

A comprehensive three-day training initiative for enumerators and supervisors at the charge level officially began at the Municipal Corporation Ludhiana on Thursday. This crucial program is being led by field trainers who have themselves undergone specialized instruction from master trainers, ensuring a high standard of knowledge transfer.

Widespread Training Across Multiple Venues

Across the Ludhiana Municipal Corporation, the training sessions are being conducted at 24 distinct venues, including prominent locations such as DCM Presidency School and UPSC Jain School. In this initial batch, a total of 1,200 participants are actively engaged in the training process. Officials have projected that approximately 90 batches will be conducted in total within the Municipal Corporation Ludhiana framework to cover all necessary personnel.

Emphasis on Digital Tools and Official Oversight

The charge officers responsible for census charges are playing an active role in the training, personally visiting the various venues to monitor the sessions. They are emphasizing the use of advanced digital tools, particularly the House Listing Operation (HLO) app, which enumerators will utilize during the HLO operation in Punjab state. This operation is scheduled to run from May 15 to June 13. Prior to the commencement of HLO, citizens are encouraged to enroll themselves on the Self-Enumeration portal to facilitate a smoother process.

Strict Measures Against Non-Attendance

During interactions with key officials, including Principal Census Officer for Ludhiana Municipal Corporation Neeru Katyal Gupta and City Census Officer Vineet Kumar, it was clearly stated that show-cause notices will be issued to any staff members who fail to attend the mandatory training. Strict disciplinary action will be initiated under Section 11 of the Census Act 1948, which may include proceedings under Service Rules for those who do not join. Furthermore, the Municipal Commissioner has directed that no Charge Officer or any other officer is permitted to exempt any duty at their own discretion without the explicit knowledge and approval of the Principal Census Officer.

This training program underscores the Ludhiana Municipal Corporation's commitment to ensuring a thorough and efficient census process, leveraging digital innovations while maintaining strict adherence to procedural protocols and accountability measures.
