Ludhiana Gole Market Shopkeepers Demand Action on Park Sanitation
Ludhiana Gole Market Park Sanitation Concerns Raised Again

Shopkeepers from Gole Market in Ludhiana have once again raised serious concerns about the poor sanitation condition in a public park located in the market area. In a letter addressed to the municipal commissioner and the mayor, the shopkeepers expressed their frustration that their complaint is pending with the Punjab State Human Rights Commission, yet officials are not taking their issues seriously.

Current State of the Park

The president of the Model Town Market Welfare Society, Daljeet Singh Takkar, highlighted the deteriorating condition of the park. He stated, "This park in the market was meant for leisure activities for senior citizens, children, and other people, but now nobody comes here. No gardener is coming. This park is in a very bad condition; there is filth everywhere, and even the footpaths are broken." He added that there is terrible filth both inside and outside the park, and stray dogs roam freely, spreading filth throughout the area.

Additional Concerns

The vice president of the association, Bhagwindwerpal Singh, pointed out that a washroom located within the park emits a constant foul smell. "This park is full of rats too," he added. Another member, Arvind Sharma, noted that the horticulture department had handed over the park to the association for maintenance, but no attention was given to its development. Sharma emphasized that the shopkeepers cannot afford to develop it using their own funds. "A hearing in the Human Rights Commission is due in June; we are hopeful of a solution," he concluded.
