Ludhiana MC Commissioner Sets Strict Tax Recovery Targets, Warns Officials
Ludhiana MC Puts Revenue Dept on High Alert for Tax Recovery

In a decisive move to boost municipal revenue, Ludhiana Municipal Commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal has placed his revenue departments on high alert. He has set stringent recovery targets for the ongoing fiscal year and issued a clear warning of departmental action against officials who fail to meet these financial goals.

Review Meetings Highlight Recovery Gaps

The commissioner conducted separate review meetings on Friday at the Zone D office to assess the performance of key wings. He meticulously evaluated the progress of the property tax department and the operations and maintenance cell. Expressing concern over field presence, Dachalwal directed officials to increase their on-ground activities and take firm action against chronic defaulters with long-pending dues.

Financial Snapshot: Property Tax Leads, Water Charges Lag

The financial data presented during the meetings revealed a mixed picture of recovery efforts. As of December 31, 2025, the civic body has recovered over Rs 135 crore in property tax. This is against an annual target of Rs 180 crore for the fiscal year. However, the recovery for water supply and sewerage charges is significantly behind schedule. Only Rs 35 crore has been collected out of a total target of Rs 60 crore for these utilities.

Commissioner Dachalwal emphasized the urgent need to bridge this substantial gap. He instructed superintendents and inspectors to expedite their recovery drives. The commissioner warned that any failure to achieve the newly fixed targets would result in strict disciplinary measures against the responsible staff members.

High-Level Attendance and Public Appeal

The review session was attended by a large contingent of the corporation's senior leadership. This included Additional Commissioner Paramdeep Singh, along with several joint and assistant commissioners. Concluding the meeting, the authorities made a strong appeal to Ludhiana residents. They urged the public to clear all pending taxes and utility charges immediately to avoid mounting interest penalties or potential enforcement actions by the department.

A critical date for taxpayers is March 31, 2026, which marks the end of the current fiscal year. Interest and penalties will accrue on all payments made after the specified grace periods. Residents can clear their dues at all Zonal Suwidha Centres across the city or conveniently through the official online portal of the MC Ludhiana.
