Madurai railway division has achieved its highest-ever revenue earnings of ₹1,408.69 crore during the financial year 2025-26. This surpasses the target of ₹1,340 crore by 5% and records a growth of 13% over the previous year's earnings of ₹1,245 crore.
Record Passenger and Freight Earnings
The division also achieved its highest-ever passenger earnings of ₹886.32 crore against the target of ₹863.9 crore, exceeding it by 3%. During the year, the division handled 4.89 crore passengers against the target of 4.62 crore passengers, registering a growth of 6%.
In freight operations, the division earned a record ₹411 crore against the target of ₹375.05 crore, exceeding it by 10%. Freight loading reached 3.572 million tonnes against the target of 3.149 million tonnes.
Other Coaching and Parcel Earnings
Under the other coaching segment, including parcel, luggage, platform tickets, and ticket checking, the division earned ₹60.65 crore. Parcel earnings reached an all-time high of ₹10.78 crore against the target of ₹10.76 crore. In ticket checking, the division achieved its highest-ever earnings of ₹12.73 crore, surpassing the target of ₹12.67 crore. Train manning improved from 95% to 97%.
Catering Services Achieve 95.70% Growth
Through catering services, the division earned a record ₹7.92 crore, registering a growth of 95.70% over the previous year's earnings of ₹4.05 crore.
