Mangaluru Corporation Demolishes Illegal Building, Vows Continued Action

The Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) is taking a firm stand against illegal constructions. Officials are actively demolishing buildings that violate city rules. They promise these drives will continue to clear unauthorized structures across the city.

Recent Demolition in Alape Village

On Monday, the MCC carried out a demolition operation in Alape village. The action targeted an unauthorized house. This building violated the approved plan by using ground-floor parking space for other purposes.

MCC Commissioner Ravichandra Naik issued the demolition order. He stated the owner broke approved building plans. The illegal construction occurred in an area reserved for parking.

Legal Process and Violations

The assistant town planning officer submitted a report. It detailed the owner's failure to comply with an MCC order to clear the violation. A notice was issued under Section 321 of the KMC Act, 1976.

ADPO Guruprasad explained the building violated regulations. The owner cut the ramp on the ground floor and lowered the front road. A lengthy inquiry followed in the presence of complainants and respondents. This led to the final order.

Guruprasad emphasized the operation served public interest and enforced the law. The demolition proceeded with cooperation from multiple departments. These included the corporation's engineering division, town planning division, Mescom, and the police department.

Future Actions and Legal Challenges

Commissioner Naik said the corporation will keep taking action. Unauthorized constructions hinder the city's well-being. The MCC has conducted similar drives in the past to enforce the law.

However, some building owners have challenged MCC orders in court. Officials note the city corporation will wait for court verdicts before commencing drives in those cases. This ensures legal compliance while maintaining enforcement efforts.
