Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada MP Capt Brijesh Chowta visited the Wenlock District Hospital on Thursday to inspect the intensive care unit (ICU) building and other projects being constructed with central government funding.
Public outreach campaign
The MP stated that a special public outreach campaign has been organized to mark the completion of 12 years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s administration. As part of this campaign, he came to inspect the projects at Wenlock Hospital. These include the Rs 24 crore intensive care unit being built under the central government’s ABHIM (Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission) scheme, the Rs 1.3 crore Integrated Health Lab project, and an additional Rs 10 crore project by MRPL.
Project progress review
“I have reviewed the progress of these three projects. The first two projects will be completed within three months. The tender for the MRPL project has been finalized, and work will begin shortly. In total, projects worth Rs 35 crore are becoming a reality. After the construction is complete, we will sit down with the district health officer (DHO) and the superintendent of Wenlock hospital to discuss providing equipment and staffing,” he added.
Mangaluru City South MLA D Vedavyas Kamath and Wenlock hospital superintendent Dr Shivaprakash DS were present during the inspection.
