The justification provided for this waiver was that the private organization would offer free network services to the public visiting the complex.
However, the situation took a curious turn when Nagendra's RTI query received a negative response from MDA officers, who claimed that no records pertaining to this arrangement were available with them. Undeterred, Nagendra pursued the matter further and managed to obtain the necessary documentation from another department through a separate RTI query. This persistence led to the disclosure of the alleged impropriety, raising serious questions about the MDA's record-keeping and accountability.
MDA's Response and Ongoing Investigation
When contacted by the media, MDA in-charge commissioner KR Rakshith acknowledged the issue and stated that a notice has been served to the private organization. The firm has been summoned to appear before him next week to present their records and the original permission letter for verification. Rakshith clarified that the permission was granted by the previous commissioner in 2024 and, as of now, no related records are available with the MDA.
"I will consult my legal team before taking appropriate action," Rakshith informed, indicating that the authority is taking the matter seriously and is prepared to address any discrepancies found during the investigation.
