Mysuru Fire Station Gets 52-Metre Aerial Ladder for High-Rise Safety

Mysuru Fire Station to Receive Advanced 52-Metre Aerial Ladder Platform Vehicle

In a significant move to bolster fire safety measures, the Mysuru fire station is set to acquire a state-of-the-art aerial ladder platform vehicle capable of reaching heights of up to 52 metres. This initiative aims to prevent fire accidents in high-rise buildings across the region, enhancing emergency response capabilities for urban structures.

Enhanced Emergency Response and Operational Capabilities

P Chandan, the Mysuru regional fire officer overseeing five districts in southern Karnataka, emphasized the critical role of this specialized vehicle. He stated that it will enable firefighters to access upper floors swiftly, support rescue operations, and deliver water or firefighting equipment at elevated levels. Currently, only Bengaluru and Mangaluru possess such vehicles, making this addition a milestone for Mysuru's infrastructure.

The 52-metre reach is particularly beneficial for buildings that are challenging to serve with standard ground-based equipment. This includes scenarios where internal access is limited due to factors like smoke, heat, or structural damage. The platform will also facilitate the evacuation of occupants from balconies up to 16 floors and from windows when stairwells or lifts are unsafe or unusable.

Strengthening Preparedness and Safety

Providing this advanced vehicle is expected to strengthen preparedness for high-rise incidents, reduce response times, and increase the safety of both residents and emergency personnel. Beyond residential buildings, the vehicle will be instrumental in combating fires in high-rise shopping malls and other commercial structures, addressing a growing need in urban areas.

Rooftop Solar Panels for RTO Offices

In a related development, RTO offices in Mysuru are moving towards self-reliance in electricity by installing rooftop solar panels. Vasanth C, the RTO (West) in Chamaraja Mohalla, confirmed that his office will soon start harnessing solar power. These panels, installed as part of a proposed project, will generate clean energy during working hours, reducing dependence on the CESC power supply in the heart of Mysuru.

Infrastructure Boost for Karnataka Exhibition Authority

Additionally, the government has allocated Rs 10 crore to the Karnataka Exhibition Authority in Mysuru to strengthen its infrastructure and operations. This funding underscores a broader commitment to enhancing public facilities and safety measures in the region.
