Mysuru: Nitesh Patil, the regional commissioner of Mysuru who also serves as the managing director of Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation (CESC), convened a preparatory meeting on Saturday at the CESC headquarters in Vijayanagar II Stage. He instructed officials to ensure full readiness to manage potential power outages and emergency situations during the monsoon season.
Focus on Complaint Management and Communication
During the meeting, Patil reviewed the status of complaint management, power interruption handling, public communication systems, and the inventory of essential materials across the subdivisions of the five districts under CESC’s jurisdiction: Mysuru, Mandya, Chamarajanagar, Hassan, and Kodagu. He emphasized the need to strengthen the complaint reception and response system.
“With the monsoon approaching, it is vital to provide prompt responses to customers. Therefore, CESC’s toll-free and public contact numbers must remain operational round the clock. Any inactive numbers should be reactivated immediately,” he stated.
Pre-emptive Stockpiling of Materials
Patil advised proactive stockpiling of necessary materials, noting that problems had already arisen with the first rains. “If materials are not supplied on time, it will be challenging to carry out the work. All divisions should receive materials promptly. Therefore, as soon as a request is received from any division, the necessary materials should be supplied quickly,” he directed.
Contractor Performance Monitoring
The regional commissioner also issued directives regarding contractor performance. Notices should be issued to contractors who fail to adhere to standard operating procedures during the monsoon. Contractors who deliver timely and quality work during the rainy season should be assigned more tasks, while those showing negligence should be given less work, he said.
These measures aim to ensure uninterrupted power supply and efficient management of any monsoon-related disruptions across the region.
