Nagaland Has Over 70,000 Unemployed Job Seekers

Nagaland governor Nand Kishore Yadav on Saturday said the state recorded 70,469 registered unemployed job seekers as of February this year. Inaugurating the Kohima Job Fair 2026 at Don Bosco College Kohima, Yadav highlighted the employment scenario in the state, underscoring the need for stronger collaboration among government agencies, educational institutions, industries and social organisations to create sustainable pathways to employment and livelihoods.

Job Fair Attracts Over 25 Companies and 500 Job Seekers

The job fair saw participation of more than 25 companies representing various sectors and over 500 job seekers. Yadav said the turnout reflected both the aspirations of Nagaland’s youth and the commitment of employers to support talent development and employment generation. He emphasised the importance of collective efforts to address employment challenges and create opportunities for the youths of the state.

Governor Calls for Collaborative Action

Yadav stressed that addressing unemployment requires a multi-stakeholder approach. He urged all parties to work together to bridge the gap between job seekers and available opportunities, ensuring that the youth of Nagaland can find meaningful employment. The governor also noted that such job fairs are crucial platforms for connecting talent with industry needs.
