NHAI Sets 2 Guinness Records on Bengaluru-Vijayawada Corridor, 2 More Attempts by 2026
NHAI's Guinness World Records on Bengaluru-Vijayawada Corridor

In a remarkable feat of engineering and speed, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has clinched two prestigious Guinness World Records for road construction on a crucial economic corridor in Andhra Pradesh. The records were achieved by contractor M/s Rajpath Infracon for their work on the Bengaluru–Kadapa–Vijayawada Economic Corridor.

A 24-Hour Engineering Marvel

The record-breaking achievement took place on NH-544G near Puttaparthi. Within a strict 24-hour window, the team successfully laid down an impressive 28.95 lane-kilometers of bituminous concrete. In terms of material, this translated to a staggering 10,675 metric tonnes of high-quality road-building material placed with precision and speed.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu took to social media platform X to publicly commend the NHAI and the executing teams. He highlighted that this accomplishment was not just about speed but also about unwavering commitment to quality standards set by the highways authority.

Government Vision and Team Effort

In his post, CM Naidu stated that the record reflects the broader vision of the Government of India for world-class infrastructure. He specifically acknowledged the sustained thrust given to the sector under the leadership of Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari.

"The exceptional commitment of engineers, workers, and field teams, executed in full compliance with NHAI quality standards, made this possible," Naidu noted. He extended his best wishes to the entire team as they gear up for an even bigger challenge.

More Records and a Transformative Corridor Ahead

The record-setting spree is not over yet. The Chief Minister revealed that the team is now aiming to secure two more Guinness World Records by January 11, 2026. These attempts will be made on Packages 2 and 3 of the same economic corridor, indicating a continued push for excellence in infrastructure development.

The 343-kilometer Bengaluru–Kadapa–Vijayawada Economic Corridor is a project of national significance. Upon completion, it is poised to dramatically strengthen inter-state connectivity between Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. The benefits are expected to be multifold:

  • Enhanced Trade: Faster and more reliable goods movement.
  • Boost to Tourism: Improved access to key destinations.
  • Regional Economic Growth: Spurred by safer and uninterrupted mobility.

This project stands as a testament to India's accelerating pace of highway development, aiming not just to connect distances but to bridge economic opportunities across states.
