The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has prepared a comprehensive schedule for pothole repairs across the city ahead of the monsoon season. The repair work will cover all 10 civic zones and is slated to run from May 21 to June 5.
Repair teams and schedule
According to a circular issued by the Hot Mix Plant Department, two dedicated teams will carry out pre-monsoon repairs on a rotational basis. This initiative aims to reduce waterlogging, road damage, and traffic risks during the rainy season.
Zone-wise repair plan
The repair work has been assigned zone-wise across the week:
- Mondays: Laxmi Nagar and Mangalwari zones
- Tuesdays: Gandhibagh and Dharampeth zones
- Thursdays: Nehrunagar and Lakadganj zones
- Fridays: Hanuman Nagar and Sataranjipura zones
- Saturdays: Dhantoli and Ashi Nagar zones
- Wednesdays: Reserved for hot mix plant maintenance
- Sundays: Weekly off
Supervision and coordination
Executive and deputy engineers have been directed to identify priority stretches and ensure that sites are cleared before teams arrive. If sites are not ready, teams may be diverted to other zones. Deputy engineer Abhijit Bhure and junior engineer Manohar Rathod have been appointed coordinators for the drive. Officials are also required to upload daily photographs of repairs and submit weekly progress reports to senior authorities.
The NMC's proactive approach is expected to mitigate road damage and enhance safety during the monsoon. Citizens are advised to cooperate with the repair teams and report any pothole issues to the designated coordinators.
