The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) water supply department has announced a two-day camp to address citizen grievances related to water bills. The camp will be held at every zone office on May 9 and 10, from 10:30 am to 5 pm. This initiative follows a suggestion made during a standing committee meeting, where members proposed such camps to resolve water bill-related issues. Standing panel chairperson Shivani Dana-Wakhare directed the department to organize the camps accordingly.
Camp Details and Organization
Under the guidance of Mayor Neeta Thakre, water supply special committee chairperson Divya Dhurde, and vice-chairperson Vijay Zalke, the department has finalized the program and prepared a standard operating procedure (SOP) for the event. Senior officers from the water supply department will be present to resolve complaints at various zone offices, including Laxmi Nagar, Dharampeth, Hanuman Nagar, Dhantoli, Nehru Nagar, Gandhibagh, Satranjipura, Lakadganj, Ashi Nagar, and Mangalwari zones.
Citizen Participation Encouraged
Shweta Banerjee, superintending engineer of the public health engineering department, has appealed to citizens to avail themselves of this opportunity in large numbers. The camp aims to provide a platform for residents to get their water bill issues addressed directly by senior officials, ensuring a swift and efficient resolution process. All zone offices will operate during the specified hours to accommodate as many complainants as possible.
This initiative is part of NMC's ongoing efforts to improve civic services and respond to public feedback. By holding these camps, the corporation hopes to reduce the backlog of unresolved complaints and enhance transparency in water billing processes. Citizens are encouraged to bring relevant documents, such as previous bills and correspondence, to facilitate the resolution of their issues.
