Noida Authorities Implement Special Water Supply Measures for Holi Festival
In preparation for the Holi festival, authorities in Noida and Greater Noida have announced comprehensive measures to ensure uninterrupted water supply as demand is projected to surge significantly during the celebrations. The enhanced arrangements aim to prevent any inconvenience for residents participating in traditional festivities.
Revised Water Supply Schedules for Holi Day
Under normal circumstances, Noida receives water twice daily—from 6:00 AM to 9:00 AM and again from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. For Holi, an additional afternoon supply slot has been introduced between 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM to accommodate increased usage patterns. RP Singh, the General Manager (Water) for the authority, emphasized that this strategic adjustment is specifically designed to address the unique requirements of festival activities.
Similarly, Greater Noida has modified its regular supply schedule, which typically operates from 7:00 AM to 9:30 AM and 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM. On Holi, residents will benefit from an extended additional supply period from noon until 4:00 PM, ensuring adequate water availability across all residential sectors during peak celebration hours.
Significant Increase in Water Distribution Capacity
The city's average daily water requirement stands at approximately 320 million litres per day (MLD). To meet the anticipated spike in consumption linked to Holi traditions—including playing with colors, washing clothes, thorough home cleaning, and post-celebration bathing—authorities will boost supply to around 420 MLD. This represents a substantial 31% increase over normal distribution levels, reflecting careful planning to match festive demands.
Contact Information and Conservation Appeals
Residents experiencing water-related issues during the festival period can contact authorities through dedicated helpline numbers: 9205691408, 8937024017, or 9919920080. While supply enhancements have been implemented, officials have simultaneously urged citizens to practice water conservation by using the resource judiciously and avoiding unnecessary wastage during celebrations.
The coordinated efforts between Noida and Greater Noida authorities demonstrate proactive civic management during major cultural events, balancing increased service provision with responsible consumption messaging to ensure sustainable festival enjoyment for all residents.
