Noida Sector 55 Residents Push for Market Relocation Amid Traffic Woes
In a significant move to address local concerns, residents of Sector 55 in Noida have formally demanded the relocation of the Sunday weekly market. Currently situated between sectors 55 and 56, the market is proposed to be shifted to the service road in Sector 57, with residents citing persistent traffic congestion and general inconvenience as primary reasons.
Meeting with Noida Authority Highlights Multiple Civic Issues
The demand was raised during a meeting held on Friday, organized by the sector's resident welfare association (RWA). Key attendees included RWA president Satnarayan Goyal, secretary Neeraj Sharma, and FONRWA president Yogendra Sharma. Residents expressed frustration over the weekly market, which they claim leads to heavy traffic and sanitation problems in the area.
In addition to the market relocation, residents sought the movement of the vendor zone near Block B to Sector 57, arguing that its proximity to residential areas causes significant inconvenience. The meeting also brought to light a severe shortage of streetlights in several parts of the sector, resulting in poor visibility and heightened safety concerns at night.
Streetlight Shortage a Major Safety HazardRWA president Satnarayan Goyal emphasized the urgency of installing new light poles, noting that over 20% of the sector remains inadequately lit after dark. "The demand for the installation of new light poles has been raised several times, but it has not been addressed so far," Goyal stated, underscoring the ongoing neglect of this critical issue.
Broader Civic Demands for Sector Improvement
Beyond traffic and lighting, residents outlined several other demands aimed at enhancing the quality of life in Sector 55. These included:
- Renovation of the local market to improve facilities and aesthetics.
- Regular cleaning of drains to prevent waterlogging and health hazards.
- Redevelopment of community parks for better recreational spaces.
- Maintenance of green belts to preserve environmental sustainability.
Noida Authority officials responded positively during the meeting, assuring residents that all raised issues would be addressed in coordination with relevant stakeholders. This commitment offers a glimmer of hope for resolving long-standing civic problems in the area.
Residents remain vigilant, awaiting concrete actions from authorities to transform their living conditions.
