Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh has witnessed a significant response to the online self-enumeration process for Census 2027, with approximately 47 lakh residents completing the exercise through the digital portal between May 7 and May 21. Notably, the state had around five crore households during the last census.
Self-Enumeration Data Highlights
According to official data released till 5:30 pm on Thursday, a total of 46,93,783 self-enumerations were completed across the state during the housing listing operation (HLO) phase of the census.

- Shahjahanpur: 2,96,232 completed self-enumerations
- Azamgarh: 2,78,134
- Bareilly: 2,71,978
- Moradabad: 2,32,393
- Sonbhadra: 1,61,174
The state capital, Lucknow, registered 98,331 completed self-enumerations.
Lowest Participation Districts
- Kaushambi: 13,666
- Auraiya: 15,423
- Hamirpur: 15,595
- Sant Kabir Nagar: 16,155
- Jalaun: 17,068
Physical Enumeration Begins
Starting Friday, the physical Housing Listing Operation (HLO) will commence and continue until June 20 in Uttar Pradesh. Approximately 5.5 lakh personnel will be deployed to carry out this exercise.
