Patiala District Administration Intensifies Crackdown on Illegal LPG Use

The district administration in Patiala carried out extensive raids for the second consecutive day on Saturday, targeting the illegal use and black marketing of domestic LPG cylinders across various parts of the district. This special enforcement drive resulted in the confiscation of 86 domestic LPG cylinders from multiple commercial establishments.

Details of the Seizures and Raid Operations

According to a senior official, the seized cylinders were distributed as follows: 19 from Nabha, 25 from Patran, 30 from Sanour, and 12 from Rajpura. These cylinders were found being illegally utilized at eateries and restaurants, violating regulations meant for household consumers.

Acting on the directives of Deputy Commissioner Varjeet Walia, all District Food Supply Officers (DFSOs) and Assistant Food Supply Officers (AFSOs) remained actively engaged in the field throughout Saturday. Their inspections focused on verifying stock positions at gas agencies to ensure compliance and availability.

Official Statements and Enforcement Measures

DFSC Ravinder Kaur confirmed that the stock at gas agencies was thoroughly checked, and she assured that the LPG supply in the district is currently sufficient. In addition to agency inspections, raids at commercial establishments continued to curb the misuse of domestic LPG cylinders at locations such as dhabas, restaurants, and eateries.

A total of eight enforcement teams, constituted under AFSOs and DFSOs, conducted inspections at numerous locations. These teams scrutinized both gas agencies and food service outlets for any diversion of domestic LPG cylinders intended for household use.

Warnings and Future Actions

Deputy Commissioner Varjeet Walia reiterated that the supply of LPG cylinders in Patiala district is normal and adequate. He urged residents to avoid panic or unnecessary hoarding based on rumors, emphasizing that such behaviors are unfounded.

Walia issued a stern warning that black marketing or illegal diversion of domestic LPG cylinders will not be tolerated. He stated that strict legal action will be taken against violators to deter such activities.

The DC added that these enforcement drives will persist in the coming days to ensure that domestic LPG cylinders, meant exclusively for household consumers, are not misused for commercial purposes. This ongoing effort aims to maintain fair distribution and prevent exploitation in the market.
