Patna District Magistrate Directs Officials to Expedite Over 30 Infrastructure Projects
In a significant meeting held on Tuesday, District Magistrate (DM) Thiyagarajan S M issued clear directives to officials and executing agencies to accelerate the implementation of more than 30 state and central government projects across Patna. The DM emphasized that while overall progress in the district is satisfactory, there is an urgent need to maintain momentum and address local challenges promptly.
Focus on Infrastructure Development and Coordination
The district administration is currently overseeing a diverse portfolio of infrastructure initiatives involving key agencies such as the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), Patna Metro Rail Corporation, Indian Railways, and the Road Construction Department. To ensure seamless execution, DM Thiyagarajan ordered the immediate relocation of structures obstructing project alignments and the lawful removal of encroachments.
Enhanced Monitoring and Inspection Mechanisms
To tackle ground-level issues effectively, the DM has tasked the Deputy Development Commissioner and Additional District Magistrates with conducting regular joint inspections of project sites. These inspections will focus on resolving complications related to land acquisition and improving technical coordination among various stakeholders.
Key Projects Under Review
Patna Metro Rail Project: Officials reported that the priority corridor stretching from Patliputra Bus Terminal to Malahi Pakri is advancing smoothly without any significant land acquisition delays, marking a positive development for urban transit in the region.
Danapur-Bihta Elevated Corridor: Highlighted as a critical initiative for enhancing regional connectivity, this project has seen substantial progress. Land acquisition has been successfully completed across 22 villages, with the administration disbursing Rs 187.34 crore in compensation to 952 landowners. In just the last fortnight, over Rs 2 crore was distributed to local farmers to facilitate uninterrupted construction activities.
Patna Ring Road and Patna-Ara-Sasaram NH-119A Projects: The DM stressed the need to expedite compensation processes for these vital road networks. Special camps will be organized in Bihta and Maner from February 12 to 17 to collect applications and process payments for the Kanhauli-Sherpur section. Circle officers have been instructed to issue land possession certificates during these camps to prevent procedural bottlenecks.
Administrative Directives for Smooth Execution
Executive agencies have been directed to submit specific dates for required police and magistrate deployments to the district control room well in advance, ensuring adequate security and administrative support at project sites. DM Thiyagarajan reiterated that the timely completion of these development and welfare schemes remains the administration's highest priority.
Accountability and Reporting Protocols
All nodal officers and regional authorities were reminded to submit weekly progress reports and maintain close coordination to ensure that projects announced during the Chief Minister's Pragati Yatra are executed without unnecessary delays. This structured approach aims to foster transparency and accountability in the implementation process.
The DM's proactive stance underscores the administration's commitment to transforming Patna's infrastructure landscape, addressing both urban and rural connectivity needs while safeguarding the interests of affected landowners through fair compensation practices.
