Patna DM Launches 8 Special Cells for Public Service & Development
Patna DM Sets Up 8 Cells to Boost Public Services

In a significant move to modernise administration and improve public service delivery, District Magistrate (DM) Thiyagarajan S M has launched eight specialised cells at the Patna collectorate. This initiative aims to provide state-of-the-art facilities and foster greater development in the district as the New Year begins.

Eight Cells for Holistic Development

The newly established cells cover a wide range of functions to ensure comprehensive development. The eight dedicated units are Horticulture and Beautification, Library Development, Art and Culture, LED Display, E-Office Development, Jeevika Souvenir Centre, Creativity Development, and Best Employee Selection. Each cell has been assigned a senior nodal officer and a nodal officer to ensure smooth operation.

To coordinate the execution of all these initiatives, the Deputy Development Commissioner (DDC) has been given overarching responsibility. This structure is designed to ensure that all efforts are synchronised and effective.

Modernising the Collectorates One-Stop Hub

During a recent review meeting with department heads, DM Thiyagarajan highlighted the collectorates pivotal role. He noted that the Patna collectorate, which houses approximately 39 departments, functions as a one-stop solution for citizens. Its efficiency was recently praised by national and international delegates during the Bihar assembly election period.

A key focus of the modernisation drive is the transition to an e-office system. A specialised cell is overseeing this phased transition, which is expected to significantly boost transparency and operational efficiency across offices.

Specific Goals and Citizen Engagement

Each cell has been tasked with specific, impactful objectives. The Horticulture and Beautification cell will drive infrastructure upgrades around the collectorate. Meanwhile, the Art and Culture cell will work on incorporating historical elements into the premises to reflect Patnas rich heritage.

The Jeevika souvenir centre will serve as a platform to showcase products made by self-help groups, promoting local artisanship. In a move to directly involve the public, the Creativity Development cell will actively invite suggestions from citizens for various district development projects.

To motivate the administrative staff, a new monthly award system has been introduced to recognise the best-performing employees. This initiative aims to encourage excellence and dedication in public service.

The DM stated that the upgraded collectorate is designed to project the image of a modern and developed Bihar. The ultimate goal is to ensure seamless public service delivery while actively encouraging greater citizen engagement in the development process.
