Patna's Traffic Revolution: Dec 1 Deadline Set for Jam-Free City
Patna sets Dec 1 deadline for traffic overhaul

In a significant move to transform Patna's chaotic traffic scenario, divisional commissioner Animesh Kumar Parashar has set an ambitious December 1 deadline for comprehensive traffic reforms. The senior official chaired a crucial review meeting on Thursday, putting the entire administrative machinery into action mode to make the city jam-free, safe, and systematically organized.

Strict December 1 Deadline for Vehicle Clearance

The commissioner issued clear directives to the SP (traffic) ensuring that all old vehicles and roadside vehicle repair garages must be closed and removed by November 30. The administration has made it explicitly clear that no such activity will be permitted after December 1. In a parallel action, vehicles kept for sale in various parking areas across the city will be identified and removed by the same deadline.

Adding more teeth to the drive, the district transport officer of Patna has been instructed to compile a detailed list of all vehicles parked on roadsides. This comprehensive inventory will include night-time videography and cover private vehicles, government vehicles, and abandoned vehicles without discrimination.

Zero Tolerance Policy Against Illegal Parking

Commissioner Parashar emphasized the administration's strict stance against illegal parking, warning that any vehicle found parked illegally after December 1 will face immediate confiscation. The owners of such vehicles will also face stringent legal action as part of the administration's determined effort to discipline Patna's traffic system.

The meeting saw participation from key officials including the district magistrate, senior superintendent of police, municipal commissioner, and other administrative heads, indicating the high priority given to this initiative.

Long-Term Infrastructure Solutions Underway

Beyond immediate corrective measures, the administration is working on sustainable long-term solutions to Patna's traffic woes. These include the closure of unnecessary road cuts, construction of proper zebra crossings, and strict regulation of auto and e-rickshaw traffic according to prescribed rules.

Several ongoing infrastructure projects are expected to contribute significantly to easing traffic congestion. These encompass the construction of escalator-equipped foot overbridges, underpasses, road widening initiatives, and the rapid development of the metro network throughout the city.

The comprehensive approach combining immediate enforcement actions with long-term infrastructure development signals a determined effort by Patna's administration to fundamentally transform the city's traffic landscape and provide citizens with a smoother, safer commuting experience.
