BUIDCO Completes Eight Advanced Drainage Pumping Stations to Mitigate Patna's Monsoon Waterlogging

The Bihar Urban Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (BUIDCO) has finalized extensive preparations across Patna's urban landscape to ensure efficient drainage and seamless water flow during the imminent monsoon season. As a core component of these initiatives, eight cutting-edge drainage pumping stations (DPS) have been constructed at strategic and low-lying locations throughout the city.

Strategic Deployment of High-Capacity Pumping Stations

BUIDCO Managing Director Animesh Kumar Parashar emphasized that the new DPS are poised to play a pivotal role in addressing the persistent waterlogging issues that have long troubled Patna during heavy rainfall. "All the newly built pumping stations, equipped with varying capacities, are now fully prepared. They will be activated before the monsoon commences, delivering much-needed relief from water accumulation in diverse parts of the city, spanning from Danapur to Patna City and along the Bypass corridor," Parashar stated.

The key sites where these DPS have been established include Rajiv Nagar, Digha Canal, Danapur (Anand Bazar), TV Tower, Dasharatha, Nandlal Chapra, Bakri Bazar (Bazar Samiti), and Prem Kunj (Pahari). Each station is outfitted with high-capacity dewatering pumps that incorporate the latest technological advancements. These robust pumps are engineered to swiftly remove substantial volumes of water, guaranteeing that roads and lanes do not remain inundated even following intense downpours.

Enhanced Monitoring and Strengthened Drainage Network

Parashar has been personally overseeing the progress of the newly constructed DPS on a regular basis, along with other monsoon preparedness arrangements in the city. He has issued stringent directives to all relevant departments to complete every assigned task within the specified deadlines, enabling Patna residents to experience the monsoon season without the recurring nuisance of waterlogging.

Previously, BUIDCO was operating 56 permanent and 35 temporary drainage pumping stations across Patna. The integration of eight new, technologically advanced pumping stations will markedly bolster the overall drainage infrastructure, providing significant relief to citizens during the forthcoming rainy season. This expansion represents a critical step in enhancing urban resilience and improving quality of life for Patna's populace.
