A major power failure at the Navegaon raw water pumping station has severely impacted water treatment and distribution operations across Nagpur. The disruption occurred after a fault at the Mansar substation of the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL).
Impact on Water Treatment Plants
The Navegaon Khairy Dam serves as the sole source of raw water supply for the Gorewada and Godhani water treatment plants. Raw water from this source also feeds all four Pench water treatment plants — Pench I, Pench II, Pench III, and Pench IV. The power outage has interrupted raw water pumping operations, thereby affecting the availability of raw water to these treatment plants.
Restoration Efforts
Officials are closely coordinating with MSEDCL to restore power supply at the earliest. Once power is restored, pumping operations will resume, and efforts will be made to stabilize water treatment and distribution systems as quickly as possible.
