Prayagraj District Magistrate Reviews City Gas Distribution System
District Magistrate Manish Kumar Verma conducted a comprehensive review of the district-level committee overseeing the City Gas Distribution system in Prayagraj on Friday. During the meeting, he issued directives to accelerate the issuance of pending no objection certificates (NOCs) that are crucial for the expansion of PNG pipelines across the region.
Emphasis on Coordination and Procedural Compliance
Verma stressed the importance of effective coordination with all relevant departments to streamline the gas distribution process. He specifically instructed officials from the Prayagraj Municipal Corporation to secure NOCs from key utility providers, including the water works, electricity department, and BSNL, before submitting any demand notes. This procedural step is aimed at ensuring that all regulatory and safety requirements are met prior to pipeline installation.
Targeted Expansion of PNG Network
The District Magistrate called upon representatives from Indian Oil and Adani Gas Pvt Ltd to identify areas currently lacking PNG connections. This includes residential neighborhoods, commercial establishments, and industrial zones. Verma directed these entities to develop and implement measures for expanding the PNG network into these underserved areas. Additionally, he emphasized the need for simultaneous awareness campaigns to educate consumers about the benefits of switching to PNG.
Activation of Ready-to-Move Connections and LPG Surrender
Verma highlighted the issue of "ready-to-move" PNG connections that are not yet operational, urging officials to take immediate steps to activate these supplies. Furthermore, he instructed the facilitation of LPG connection surrenders in households and establishments that currently maintain both PNG and LPG connections, promoting a transition to more efficient and potentially safer gas usage.
