Prayagraj Implements Strict DAC System for Domestic LPG Cylinder Deliveries
In a significant move to streamline gas distribution, Prayagraj has mandated that all domestic LPG cylinder deliveries require a valid delivery authentication code (DAC). This code will now be sent directly to the device used for bookings, whether through a registered mobile number, app, WhatsApp, or email, marking a departure from the previous SMS-only system.
Resolving Technical Glitches and Enhancing Delivery Efficiency
After weeks of confusion and numerous failed deliveries due to technical flaws in the DAC system, oil marketing companies have addressed the issues and made the code mandatory for handovers. The primary glitch involved the non-receipt of authentication codes, which left many households without their booked cylinders. Under the new system, the DAC is sent to the booking device itself, rather than solely to the registered mobile number via SMS. This change aims to mitigate common problems such as undelivered SMS messages, inactive numbers, or full inboxes.
The DAC system requires consumers to share a one-time code with delivery personnel at the time of cylinder handover. A local distributor explained, "Previously, even if a booking was made from an app on a device with a different number, the DAC would still go to the registered mobile. The modified system will significantly reduce delivery failures." Distributors assert that this update will streamline operations and minimize disputes at consumers' doorsteps.
District Authorities Review PNG Network Expansion
Simultaneously, district authorities are conducting a detailed review of the network expansion and smooth implementation of the gas distribution system in Prayagraj. District Magistrate Manish Kumar Verma has issued directives to expedite the issuance of pending no objection certificates (NOCs) related to the expansion of PNG pipelines. He instructed officials to coordinate effectively with concerned departments to resolve issues promptly.
Moreover, Verma has tasked authorities from Indian Oil and Adani Gas Pvt Ltd with identifying residential areas, commercial establishments, and industrial zones lacking PNG connections. He emphasized the need to undertake measures for expanding the PNG network in these regions while simultaneously raising awareness among local consumers. Additionally, he directed that PNG supply be activated immediately for connections that are "ready-to-move" but not yet operational.
In a further step to optimize gas usage, Verma instructed officials to initiate procedures ensuring the surrender of LPG connections in households and establishments that currently hold both PNG and LPG connections. This measure aims to promote the transition to more efficient and environmentally friendly PNG systems.
