Prayagraj: The entire police and administrative machinery has rallied in support of the government, citing Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s call to minimise petrol and diesel consumption.
Responding to the appeal in national interest, various entities in Prayagraj, from administrative and political cadres to religious and social organisations, have pledged support.
Prayagraj District Magistrate Manish Kumar Verma, Divisional Commissioner Saumya Agarwal, and Police Commissioner Jogendra Kumar have decided to forego their official escorts and travel or commute in their personal vehicles. Officials stated that escorts would be utilised only in emergency situations when absolutely essential.
The Prayagraj Municipal Corporation has also stepped forward. During an important meeting on Thursday, presided over by the mayor, fuel conservation measures were discussed in line with this nationwide appeal. Mayor Umesh Chandra Ganesh Kesharwani announced that a decision was reached in the House that all corporators would henceforth visit their respective constituencies using two-wheelers instead of four-wheeler vehicles. Deputy Mayor Akhilesh Singh noted that it was the collective consensus of all public representatives that, in view of the current global scenario, they too must stand in solidarity with the nation.
