Rajasthan Government Announces State Day Cleanliness Drive

The government of Rajasthan has unveiled plans for a comprehensive six-day Cleanliness Week campaign to honor Rajasthan Day. This significant initiative is scheduled to commence on March 14 and will see active participation from all urban local bodies throughout the state.

Campaign Objectives and Leadership

According to Pratik Juikar, director of the Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban), the primary goal of this special campaign is to enhance awareness about cleanliness among citizens. The effort seeks to foster widespread public involvement in maintaining clean and aesthetically pleasing urban environments across Rajasthan.

Themed Activities Across Cities

The Cleanliness Week will feature a series of organized activities, each focusing on a specific theme to address various aspects of sanitation and waste management. The daily schedule is as follows:

  • March 15: Dedicated to plastic waste management, highlighting the importance of reducing and properly disposing of plastic materials.
  • March 16: Centers on clean toilets, emphasizing hygiene and sanitation in public and private facilities.
  • March 17: Focuses on solid waste management, promoting efficient collection, segregation, and disposal practices.
  • March 18: Highlights water management, encouraging conservation and proper usage of water resources.
  • March 19: Aims to inform residents about the Swachh Survekshan 2025–26, the nationwide cleanliness survey that assesses urban sanitation standards.

This structured approach ensures that each day addresses a critical component of urban cleanliness, providing citizens with practical knowledge and encouraging active participation. The campaign represents a concerted effort by the Rajasthan government to leverage public engagement for sustainable urban development and improved quality of life.
