Ranchi RPO Launches Special Passport Camp at Central University of Jharkhand

The Regional Passport Office (RPO) in Ranchi has officially commenced its two-day special passport seva camp at the Central University of Jharkhand (CUJ) campus, starting on Tuesday. This initiative aims to provide convenient and efficient passport-related services directly to the university community and nearby residents.

Mobile Passport Van Deployed for On-Spot Services

A mobile passport van has been strategically deployed on the university campus to facilitate on-spot processing of passport applications. This service is available to students, faculty, staff, and local residents from surrounding areas, streamlining the often cumbersome process of passport renewal and new applications.

On the first day of the camp, approximately 45 applications were successfully processed, covering both renewals and new submissions. The RPO has set an ambitious target of handling over one hundred applications throughout the two-day event, demonstrating a strong commitment to public service.

Focus on Outreach and Expansion of Services

In a statement, a senior official from the RPO, speaking on condition of anonymity, emphasized the office's dedication to outreach programs. "We are focusing more on outreach programmes like these for the benefit of citizens," the official stated. "RPO is open to holding more camps like these and is exploring requests from various places where we can get bulk applications."

The official highlighted the ongoing efforts to expand such services, noting that the mobile van is regularly deployed for similar initiatives. Recent activities include a camp at AIIMS Deoghar, and the RPO is currently evaluating a request from IIT(ISM) in Dhanbad to host a similar event.

Enhanced Infrastructure for Better Accessibility

To further improve service delivery, the RPO has established a robust network of passport seva kendras across the region. Currently, there are 16 passport seva kendras operational across 24 districts in Jharkhand. Additionally, 15 more centers are functioning through partnerships with post offices, significantly enhancing accessibility for residents in remote and underserved areas.

This comprehensive approach underscores the RPO's commitment to making passport services more accessible and efficient, reducing the burden on citizens and promoting ease of access to essential documentation.
