Rohtak MC Installs Tent, Benches at Dumping Sites

The Rohtak Municipal Corporation (MC) has launched an innovative initiative to combat unauthorized garbage dumping at three major sites in the city. After Additional Deputy Commissioner Narendra Kumar assumed charge as Municipal Commissioner, the MC intensified efforts to maintain cleanliness and eliminate roadside waste.

Innovative Measures at Dumping Sites

At one location near the Sector-2 market, a tent has been erected, while benches have been installed at two other sites—outside Raj Cinema on Delhi Road and near Gohana Adda. These measures aim to discourage residents from dumping waste in these areas. Municipal workers have been deployed to monitor the spots until the practice is curbed.

MC spokesperson Vipin Narwal stated, “We identified 28 unauthorized dumping points across the city, with three being particularly problematic. The tent and benches are placed to prevent waste disposal and encourage responsible behavior.” Surveillance cameras are also being installed at these locations to identify violators and impose penalties.

Cleanliness Campaign and Dustbin Mandate

The MC has launched a special cleanliness campaign titled “Dustbin zaroori hai, iske bina safai adhoori hai” (A dustbin is essential; cleanliness is incomplete without it). Under this campaign, all vendors and shopkeepers must keep dustbins at their establishments and ensure proper waste disposal instead of dumping on roadsides.

MC Commissioner Narendra Kumar emphasized strict action against littering. “The campaign promotes responsible waste management. Lack of dustbins leads to indiscriminate dumping, affecting city hygiene,” he said. Street vendors in markets, major roads, and vegetable markets are required to provide dustbins for customer waste.

Kumar added, “Cleanliness is not solely the MC’s responsibility; it is a social duty of every citizen. Public participation is essential to keep the city clean, beautiful, and healthy.” He urged residents to hand over waste only to MC collection vehicles and refrain from littering in public places.
