Kanpur: Divisional commissioner Vijayendra Pandian on Thursday chaired a Udyog Bandhu meeting to address poor civic conditions in the district's industrial areas. During the meeting, he announced that Rs 68 crore would be allocated for drains, sewer lines, road construction, and other essential civic works at Ispat Nagar.
He also disclosed that a proposal for a sewage treatment plant (STP) at the Panki industrial estate is being prepared. Reviewing the progress of sewer line installation in industrial estates, the deputy general manager of UPSIDA stated that cost estimates for STPs serving Panki Industrial Area Sites 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 have been provided by the Uttar Pradesh Jal Nigam (Urban), and the process of obtaining government approval is underway.
Sewer line work in Chak-84 in the Fazalganj area has been completed, and sewer connections have been provided to six individuals. Regarding the identification of land for the Dadanagar substation, the superintending engineer of KESCO confirmed that the land has been made available and construction work is in progress.
The Municipal Corporation was instructed to take necessary action on encroachments and tree plantation in the green belt from LML Crossing to Bhauti Bypass. It was also directed to ensure regular cleaning of industrial areas and drains in the city. Taking a serious view of recurring encroachments in the green belt, a letter will be sent to the police commissioner of Kanpur Nagar requesting that the concerned police station and outpost in-charges ensure effective surveillance.
It was reported that construction of the administrative building at the Panki Fire Station is in the final stages. Instructions were issued to the executive engineer of Uttar Pradesh Jal Nigam (Drinking Water) to expedite work to make the road from Dadanagar to Vijay Nagar motorable.
