The annual safety inspection of school buses for the 2026-27 academic year, along with an awareness class for vehicle staff, will be conducted at the Government Model Boys Higher Secondary School in Attingal at 9 am on Saturday, according to officials from the Attingal Regional Transport Office (RTO).
Programme Ahead of School Reopening
This programme is being organized in anticipation of the reopening of schools in Kerala to ensure the safety and fitness of vehicles. Officials stated that school buses, vans, and other authorized vehicles will undergo detailed inspections. These inspections will include checks on emergency exits, fire extinguishers, first-aid kits, speed governors, CCTV cameras, and GPS systems.
Training for Drivers and Attendants
Drivers and attendants will also receive awareness training on road safety and emergency response measures. The Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) has intensified safety checks in recent years following several school transport accidents and has made compliance with safety norms mandatory for educational institutions.
