Farmers in the Siwani area of Bhiwani district, Haryana, have raised serious concerns over an acute shortage of water and electricity for irrigation, warning that they will launch an agitation if their demands are not addressed promptly. The warning comes as residents of Chanot village in Hansi district continue a dharna demanding water supply.
Bharatiya Kisan Sangh Leads Protest Planning
A group of farmer activists under the banner of the Bharatiya Kisan Sangh (BKS) convened a meeting at Siwani Mandi to discuss the challenges faced by the farming community. Anoop Singh Chanot, a member of the dharna committee, informed that several Congress MLAs visited the dharna site to lend their support.
The MLAs who extended support include Jhajjar MLA and former minister Geeta Bhukkal, Kalanaur MLA Shakuntala Khatak, Narnaund MLA Jassi Petwar, Guhla Chika MLA Hans Raj, Uklana MLA Naresh Selwal, and Baroda MLA Induraj Narwal. Their presence underscored the political significance of the water crisis in the region.
